Ona Network has set up a collaborative low cost clinic (Sight Centre) in Dodoma to increase the availability of reliable eye care to the community. Sight Centre has been very successful and is now a clinic of choice for 5 institutions in Dodoma including the largest University in Tanzania; The University of Dodoma, colleges and Bible colleges. Set up in an urban area, the clinic also serves as a fund generating activity for Ona Network. Sight centre will ensure ongoing optometry care for many throughout the year and into the future.
Sight Centre now provides affordable eye care to those with low or middle income in Dodoma township. Services offered at Sight Centre are at a fraction of normal cost charged by other providers. 100 percent of profit made at Sight Centre funds the provision of free eyecare in the villages.
Currently, Sight Centre has volunteer positions available for optometrists, optical dispensers and managers for a minimum term of 6 months. Interested candidaties must visit our volunteering page for application information. |
